Position Summary: 

Under general direction, this position leads the shipping function in a plant/distribution center in accordance with quality control and sanitation standards. This position oversees and ensures the accurate, timely delivery of products to various locations in a safe and effective manner and is accountable for the proper count and verification of all incoming and outgoing product loads as well as loading product on route or transport vehicles.

Work Schedule: 3rd shift schedule, working 8-hour shifts, including holidays and weekends. More detail regarding shift times will be provided to qualified candidates upon phone screens.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • You ensure and maintain a safe environment compliant with all BQ, OSHA, and/or governmental policies and procedures. You perform all position responsibilities following established GMP, Food Safety, HACCP, Personal Safety and Quality Policies and procedures and are responsible to notify supervision of any equipment problems.
  • You will plan, organize, direct and control the work performed by all associates working in the shipping department. You will assist in work procedures and expedite workflow, issue written and oral instructions, assign duties and examine work for compliance of policies and procedures, maintain harmony among workers, and support the values and policies of the organization.
  • You will monitor and verify that all shipped product quality meets BQ standards. You will request and sort products upon demand from the production line and will ensure order accuracy by reviewing sales orders, ensuring orders are shipped correctly, auditing filled orders, and will monitor the receipt and pulling of products received. 
  • You will conduct daily Huddle meetings and will assist with creating a culture of continuous improvement by engaging associates.
  • Provide equipment to production lines (including conducting searches for equipment in other plants and ensuring the equipment arrives on time) and will assist with the execution of equipment inventories.
  • You will complete OTM (Oracle Transportation Management) Entries for the Shipping function, process daily paperwork, and will gather necessary data for daily recap sheets to include adjustments, shortages, and overages. You will also utilize computer applications to account for all products and verify loads.
  • Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by Supervisor.

  • You have proficient computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, OTM, PC Data and other software.
  • You have basic arithmetic skills to include adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
  • You have the level of analytical ability required in order to gather and interpret data in situations where the problems are somewhat complex in dealing with ingredient formulations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
  • 2 to 3 years of prior experience or training in relevant, high-volume manufacturing or supply-chain environment is preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work around and with various food machinery equipment.
  • Physical requirements: ability to work 8+ hour shifts, lift 50 pounds, stack/unstack or carry trays, stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time (except for break and lunch periods), perform repetitive motions, use equipment required to move product (hand truck, two-wheel dolly, etc.), and work in an environment with varying temperatures.
