POSITION OVERVIEW

The purpose of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Chemical Regulatory Specialist is to develop and maintain corporate chemical regulatory policies, procedures, and programs that support compliance with applicable local, state, federal, and international regulations.

This is an onsite position located in Zeeland, Michigan. It is not open to hybrid or remote work at this time.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Interpret and apply international, federal, state, and local regulations related to chemical substances (e.g., TSCA, REACH, GHS, CLP).

  • Provide guidance on complex international chemical regulations.

  • Oversee the activities for global regulatory reporting, registrations, and notifications for chemicals.

  • Develop, review, and approve Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on chemical product regulations.

  • Collaborate with appropriate teams to ensure product is successfully launched and in compliance with the applicable chemical regulations.

  • Proactively engage with R&D to ensure new chemical product development aligns with evolving global regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and deliver training on global chemical regulations.

  • Develop and maintain the chemical regulatory compliance related processes.

  • Provide regulatory guidance related to managing chemical regulatory inspections and appropriately responding to any requests and inquiries.

  • Maintain environmental product compliance tools (e.g., Assent, CDX, IMDS).

  • Maintain expertise on current environmental compliance issues through literature and attendance at relevant seminars and meetings.

  • Positively influence others through leadership and guidance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field with a strong emphasis on chemical regulations.

  • 5+ years of experience in the chemical regulatory area focused on chemical substances and/or chemical products.

  • Deep and comprehensive understanding of a wide range of global chemical regulations (e.g., TSCA, REACH, GHS, CLP, country-specific chemical control laws).

  • Strong track record of providing chemical regulatory compliance support.

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams and drive impactful chemical regulatory initiatives.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Current and continuous right to work in the United States without sponsorship.

WHAT WILL HELP

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field with a strong emphasis on chemical regulations.

  • Experience utilizing online resources to research applicable rules and regulations, as well as pertinent standards, for direction and guidance.
