POSITION PROFILEĀ 

This engineering position works in the Specials engineering process to accurately complete customer furniture modification requests, collaborates with internal, sometimes external, business partners to ensure overall order flow, first time quality, and continuous improvement of department processes and tools.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow engineering and quality processes; take good notes; show work and assumptions.
  • Apply basic engineering and design skills to work assignments.
  • Apply basic problem-solving skills to work assignments and implement appropriate countermeasures.
  • Ability to use originality and ingenuity while developing solutions; an ability to think creatively.
  • Create and maintain product Bills of Materials (BaaN or JDE BOMs).
  • Works under direct supervision; work is reviewed before completion to ensure accuracy in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Basic product fulfillment knowledge, supply chain costs/capabilities and MillerKnoll manufacturing methods.
  • Basic business sense, understand how design decisions impact business results.
  • Basic knowledge of Lean principles, Toyota Production System, or MillerKnoll Performance Systems (MKPS).
  • Participate in continuous improvement, error proofing, and standardizing best practices through PDCAs, PRD review, and customer complaint problem solving.
  • Actively works on enhancements to designs, tools, and technologies used in the Specials process.
  • General understanding of the order processes, from order entry to order acknowledgment.
  • Curiosity to learn the many facets of the MillerKnoll products, manufacturing methods, and business.
  • Effective collaboration with peers and quote team to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Effective communication with audiences in quoting, engineering, operations, or management.
  • Fast paced, cycle time measured in hours, enjoys completing things every day.
  • At the direction of leadership able to effectively react to changing priorities.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of: Creo, PDM Link, Performance Test requests/requirements, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

EXPERIENCE CRITERIA

  • Engineering degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Office furniture experience preferred
  • Experience working in a team environment required
