The Pet Dentist, part of AOSN, is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (including but not limited to):

• Ā Previous experience or training / education in a veterinary facility required

• Ā Must be friendly, outgoing, ā€œpeople orientedā€

• Ā Excellent communication skills

• Ā Must be capable of being cross-trained for front office receptionist duties, telephone and computer skills are necessary

• Ā Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques, treatments, and accept change


Medical Related Skills:

• Ā Phlebotomy

• Ā IV Catheter placement

• Ā Preparing and restraining animals during procedures

• Ā Anesthetic induction

• Ā Anesthetic monitoring

• Ā Assisting in surgery

• Ā Ability to use a stethoscope

• Ā Advising pet owners on proper care, etc.


Duties (including but not limited to):

• Ā Demonstrate excellent relations with client / pets in the waiting area and exam rooms

• Ā Exceed the client’s expectations of service

• Ā Compassionate nursing care is the top priority for all patients

• Ā Housekeeping / maintenance

• Ā Ability to perform cursory exam

• Ā Clearly communicate your discussion with the owner to a doctor

• Ā Record keeping

• Ā Fill prescriptions and dispense medications as prescribed by the doctor, etc.


Education and Physical Requirements:

• Ā College or college-equivalent education as required in becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician

• Ā Dependable attendance is required

• Ā Must be able to lift 40 pounds

• Ā Must be willing to work long hours under pressure conditions

• Ā The ability to walk, bend, stand, squat, or reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day.
