As we continue to grow, we are adding a Senior Pre-Construction Manager to bring advanced estimating and pre-construction strategy knowledge and partner closely with Operations and Leadership.
About the Position
The Senior Pre-Construction Manager plays a critical individual-contributor role at Alt Construction, leading complex pre-construction efforts and serving as a trusted partner to Operations and Leadership. This position is responsible for developing accurate, thoughtful estimates and pre-construction strategies that set projects up for success.
The Senior Pre-Construction Manager brings a high level of judgment, accountability, and ownership to each pursuit, helping ensure that projects align with Alt’s standards, capabilities, and long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full pre-construction lifecycle, including conceptual budgeting, detailed estimating, value engineering, and bid strategy
- Review and approve estimates, assumptions, scopes, and risk considerations prior to submission
- Partner closely with Operations and Project Management to ensure smooth handoffs from pre-construction to execution
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, architects, and engineers
- Continuously refine estimating processes, tools, and standards to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Support client conversations during pre-construction to build trust and confidence
- Analyze historical cost data and project performance to improve future estimates
- Uphold Alt Construction’s values in every interaction internally and externally
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating or pre-construction, preferably with a general contractor
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods across commercial project types
- Experience collaborating closely with operations, project management, and ownership
- High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with clients and partners
- Proficiency with estimating software and construction technology platforms such as BuilderTrend, Procore, Bluebeam, and Timberline.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
