Quality Engineer

Location: Abingdon
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum
Working Hours: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet stringent quality standards and customer specifications. You will play a key part in driving continuous improvement initiatives, conducting inspections, and supporting compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform dimensional inspections using CMM equipment and other precision tools.
  • Develop and maintain quality control processes, including First Article Inspection (FAI), in-process checks, and final inspections.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and technical specifications.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed quality documentation and reports.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 or AS9100 standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce defects.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a quality engineering role within a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and mechanical inspection techniques.
  • Proficiency in operating and programming CMM machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
