Bioinformatician – Plant Biology

Reed Scientific is working in partnership with a pioneering biotech start-up, who are focused on revolutionizing agriculture through genetic innovation. We are seeking a skilled Bioinformatician to support trait development by applying computational tools to enhance crop performance and sustainability.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop and maintain NGS pipelines for non-model plant species.
  • Analyse and integrate large-scale datasets to identify novel genetic targets.
  • Conduct comparative genomics and evolutionary analyses.
  • Collaborate with experimental teams to translate insights into outcomes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, genomics, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Python, Linux/Unix, Git, and workflow tools (e.g., Snakemake, Nextflow).
  • Experience in transcriptome assembly, regulatory DNA analysis, or ML/AI in genomics.
  • Background in plant science or non-model species is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills.
