Our client specializes in manufacturing different gearing systems, they are looking for a CNC Turner who will operating various machines to produce conforming product. Aid the set up and preparation of materials and tooling for upcoming jobs, working from engineering drawings to produce precision spec components for clients in the aerospace and automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking CNC turn/mill machine setups in accordance with detailed product operation requirements, as well as selection and loading of relevant program for gear cutting;
  • Checking that the product loading and clamping is correct and secure;
  • Aid / Change machine settings from one job to another within a set time frame;
  • Ability to read and understand drawings;
  • Change and adjust machine parameters and tooling as required to meet dimensional and output requirements;
  • Able to use micrometres, verniers and other inspection equipment to check work to drawing dimensions and validation sheets;
  • Ensuring that all machine components are operational/damage-free before operating it and ensuring that broken/damaged tools are reported to the unit manager and replaced immediately.
  • Setting and running multiple machines when the component and/or batch sizes allow;
  • Meet desired quantities, conducting in-process inspection and checking against drawings and specifications to ensure they are made accurately and to the highest standards;
  • Support colleagues by assisting with other duties when required, to aid the smooth running of the Company

Skills and Qualifications/experience:

  • 3 – 5 years’ relevant experience in a similar industry/role.
  • Previous CNC Experience
  • The ability to use a range of measuring equipment.
  • Good math and technical skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of systematic problem solving.
  • Be proactive and a great team player.
  • To be a quick learner and adaptable to change.
  • Have excellent attention to detail.
  • Be able to work effectively and efficiently to meet target deadlines.

Benefits

  • Holiday entitlement: 26.5 days, incl. bank holidays; pro-rata depending on start date.
  • A Shift premium of 20% for the first 37 hours
  • Overtime available

Hours

  • Whilst on training, you will be working the 1st shift (i.e. 06:30 – 15:15, Monday – Thursday, and 06:00 – 13:00, Friday, 40 hours/week).
  • You will move to the 2nd shift once there are sufficiently trained staff to form a 2nd shift the 2nd shift hours are: 14:45 – 00:00 Monday to Thursday
