Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate, patient, and supportive KS2 Tutor to support a young person in Year 5 who is currently working at a Year 3 level. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's educational journey and emotional well being.
Student Profile:
The young person experiences significant challenges in a traditional school setting and finds the environment overwhelming. They benefit from a calm, structured, and quiet learning space where they can feel safe and supported. The ideal tutor will help them build self-esteem, develop coping strategies, and work towards their academic goals at a pace that suits their needs.
As a Tutor, you will:
- Create a calm, quiet, and structured learning environment that supports emotional safety
- Build a trusting relationship with the young person to encourage engagement and confidence
- Adapt lessons to meet the learner's current level (Year 3 curriculum), with a focus on English
- Use creative and supportive strategies to help the student overcome barriers to learning
- Promote self-esteem, resilience, and positive coping mechanisms through mentoring
- Monitor progress and adjust teaching approaches to suit evolving needs
About you:
- Experience of working within the primary environment
- Experience supporting children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
- A nurturing and empathetic approach to teaching
- Ability to create engaging, tailored learning plans
- Strong communication and mentoring skills
- Flexibility to deliver sessions during the week (timings can be agreed based on availability)

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
