Foster Panel Member

Hampshire Fostering aim to be representative of the families we work with in Hampshire and are looking to recruit panel members with a variety of personal and professional experiences and a range of backgrounds including those who have care experience or have experience of foster care, education, health and public services.

The role of the Fostering Panel is to support the provision of high quality and safe foster homes for our children through sound and competent recommendations regarding applicants' suitability to foster, in line with the Fostering Service Regulations 2011 [England].

Rated outstanding by Ofsted, Hampshire County Council is dedicated to making Hampshire an even better place for children and young people.

As a panel member you will carefully consider the paperwork provided prior to the meeting via a secure online portal, as well as the Panel discussions. You will need to be comfortable forming and articulating a view in a formal meeting setting and able to read, process and analyse large amounts of complex information.

We offer panel members the opportunity to observe a panel and the support of a buddy panel member alongside a handbook and panel overview. We provide access to training through the year including a one day panel workshop.

Hampshire hold six panels a month across the county in Alton, Basingstoke, Havant, Swanwick (SO31 Fareham), Totton (New Forest) and Winchester. The majority of panels are held in person with virtual panels via MS Teams held as an exception.

The renumeration for each half day panel attended is 72.03 including reading and preparation time. Reasonable travel expenses are payable. This post is subject to interview and an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service.
