Overview
A leading food manufacturing company is seeking a highly competent and motivated Multi-Skilled Engineer for a contract position operating inside IR35. The successful candidate will be responsible for both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs within a fast-paced, high-volume production facility. The role operates on a 4-on-4-off shift pattern, rotating between day and night shifts. (4 on 4 off days only available at different site).


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct planned and preventative maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of production equipment to minimise downtime and improve machine efficiency.
  • Provide a rapid and effective response to all mechanical and electrical breakdowns to ensure production targets are met.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex faults on a variety of production and process machinery, such as conveyors, ovens, and mixers, including associated control systems.
  • Perform fault-finding on electrical systems, including PLCs, motors, and control panels.
  • Adhere to strict health, safety, and food hygiene standards at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work and complete administrative tasks in a timely manner using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the wider engineering and production teams.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the plant.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven multi-skilled engineering experience, ideally gained within a high-volume food or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in conducting both PPM and reactive breakdown maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with a variety of process or production equipment is highly desirable.
  • Must have previous experience working with a shift pattern that includes both days and nights.
