Hales Group are happy to be working with our client in assisting them with finding a Quality Coordinator for their Ashford location. To be successful for the Quality Coordinator position, we are looking for someone who has experience within the food industry (NO MEAT), working with the technical teams, delivering audits, confident with Quality Management Systems and up to date with SAP systems. To also be successful in the application process, you must have Right To Work in the UK and proof of your Level 3 in Food Safety and HACCP Level 2. Salary - £30,000 - £32,000 per annum Hours – Monday to Friday – 8.00am till 4.30pm Role Overview: Assist the Technical Manager in maintaining food safety, quality, and hygiene practices across the UK business. Provide support to technical and interdepartmental functions, ensuring product and practice safety, quality, and legality. Key Responsibilities: 
  • Inform the site technical team about adherence to compliance standards.
  • Identify and communicate deviations through audits and inspections.
  • Complete technical information for reports.
  • Administer databases, ensuring timely and detailed logging.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished products against specifications.
  • Contribute to customer complaints investigations.
  • Audit production and technical traceability paperwork.
  • Generate quality statements (e.g., Certificates of Analysis).
  • Calibrate measuring equipment periodically.
  • Cover for the Technical Coordinator when absent.
  • Conduct GMP, fabrication, glass, and brittle material audits.
  • Accompany pest control personnel during inspections.
  • Manage production and raw material samples database.
  • Prepare samples for laboratory testing.
  • Perform allergen rapid testing and environmental control testing.
  • Organize retention library samples.
  • Ensure QMS documentation is relevant and request improvements.
  • Conduct daily taste panels and publish results.
  • Perform temperature checks in freezer environments (-18°C).
  • Prepare samples for customers and other departments.
  • Log laboratory samples for various analyses and ensure appropriate actions.
  • Promote a safe and ethical working culture, meeting Health & Safety requirements.
  • Complete documentation accurately and timely.
  • Inspect products and practices against standards.
  • Trend data to report unusual spikes in quality issues.
  • Log relevant information to SAP system and retrieve data for due diligence.
  • Identify and propose rectifications for out-of-standard behaviours.
 Other Responsibilities: 
  • Support technical team members with issues.
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments.
  • Assist in gathering and generating quality and food safety data.
  • Contribute ideas for service delivery improvement.
  • Communicate effectively using various platforms.
  • Keep the Technical Manager informed of any issues.
 Qualifications and Experience: 
  • Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Level 2 training.
  • 3+ years’ experience in the Food Manufacturing Industry (preferable).
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Proactive, flexible, reliable, and a good communicator.
