Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor

 

We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to lead the development and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental standards within our organisation. This role will be responsible for ensuring continued compliance with UK legislation and industry standards, including maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications.

The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a positive health and safety culture across the business and will work closely with stakeholders at all levels to ensure best practices are embedded throughout our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety and environmental policies, systems, and procedures in line with UK legislation and industry best practice.

  • Monitor and report on EH&S performance using key performance indicators.

  • Conduct risk assessments, site audits, and inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken.

  • Lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Deliver and coordinate health, safety and environmental training and induction programmes.

  • Ensure all regulatory and legal requirements are met, including timely submissions to external bodies such as the HSE and environmental agencies.

  • Support environmental and sustainability initiatives, including waste management, emissions control and energy efficiency.

  • Collaborate across departments including production, engineering, and facilities to embed EH&S best practices into daily operations.

  • Stay up to date with regulatory changes and attend relevant training, seminars and conferences.

Job Profile
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail and a collaborative approach. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong organisational and planning skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage priorities and work independently.

  • A proactive mindset and the ability to share knowledge effectively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EH&S systems (experience with Epicor ERP is desirable).

Qualifications & Experience

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (essential).

  • Degree in engineering or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role (desirable).

  • Proven experience in an EH&S role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

  • Sound knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Training & Development
Ongoing training and development opportunities will be provided, tailored to your needs and agreed with the Production Engineering & Facilities Manager.

  • Continued accreditation to ISO 45001 & ISO 14001.

  • Full compliance with all EH&S regulatory requirements.

  • Clear and consistent EH&S performance reporting.

  • Effective incident management and process improvement.

  • High levels of employee engagement with EH&S practices.
