Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an established and independent firm of Chartered Surveyors and Property Consultants in the search for an experienced Town Planner to join their expanding multidisciplinary team.

Founded in 2018, the firm provides strategic services across the rural and development sectors, working with private clients, family businesses, and companies to deliver tailored, long-term solutions. Their team brings together Chartered Surveyors, planning consultants, and agri-business specialists to provide comprehensive advice without the constraints of corporate red tape.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and forward-thinking planning professional to take a lead role in delivering and expanding planning services. The role offers the chance to shape the future growth of the team while managing a diverse range of planning projects from rural diversification to residential and commercial developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading land and local plan promotion strategies
  • Undertaking strategic planning appraisals
  • Preparing and managing pre-applications and full planning submissions
  • Coordinating and overseeing external consultants
  • Managing rural, residential, and commercial planning applications
  • Advising on diversification, change of use, and rural development opportunities
  • Preparing and submitting appeals and prior notification applications
  • Supporting the generation of new business opportunities

Candidate Profile

Required Experience:

  • Post-qualified experience in handling complex planning projects
  • Proven success with residential and commercial scheme promotion
  • Confident working independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage varied workloads
  • Business development awareness and client-focused mindset
  • Proactive, results-oriented approach

Preferred:

  • Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience
  • RTPI accreditation is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate
