An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Manager to join a leading organisation within the waste management and recycling sector. This role is based at a newly developed Waste Transfer Station in Barking, supporting vital operations and infrastructure within a high-performing team.
The Role
As Maintenance Manager, you'll take ownership of the site's maintenance operations, including planned preventative maintenance, breakdown response, project delivery, and contractor management. You'll play a key part in ensuring the facility runs efficiently, safely and in line with all relevant legislation.
Maintenance Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage the site's planned preventative maintenance programme
- Oversee site repairs, modifications, procurement, and engineering projects
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance across the site
- Manage and maintain all site plant, equipment, vehicles, and infrastructure
- Lead and support the on-site maintenance team and external contractors
- Oversee contracts, service agreements, and associated budgets
- Maintain clear communication and accurate documentation for all stakeholders
Maintenance Manager Requirements:
We're looking for a hands-on and proactive Maintenance Manager with strong leadership and organisational skills. You should be confident working in a fast-paced industrial or operational environment.
- Recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
- Experience managing maintenance teams in a similar setting
- Strong understanding of health & safety and environmental compliance
- Operational knowledge of plant, equipment, and vehicles
- Confident in project management, contract oversight, and budget control
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and leadership skills

This role is based full-time at the Barking Transfer Station. Flexibility to support other local sites may be required occasionally.
