- Working on various stages of water treatment and their associated mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, filtration plants, chemical dosing equipment, air compressors, pneumatic plants and sampling equipment.
- Investigate process plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
- Carry out scheduled, planned maintenance work on mechanical equipment.
- Provide technical advice to the wider team and contractors, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
- Participating in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment.
- Additionally, you will be required to undertake health and safety checks and take ownership of your own and your colleagues' health and safety by escalating any concerns to your manager and resolving them yourself where possible.
- Experience in working on large industrial plants and mechanical systems.
- BNC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in mechanical engineering is essential.
- Qualification in mechanical maintenance NVQ 2/3 would be beneficial, although not essential.
- Previous experience in a mechanical apprenticeship.
- Be physically capable of carrying out the duties of the role, as you will work in confined spaces and use a breathing apparatus, with the successful completion of the appropriate training.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are critical.
- A valid FULL UK driving license is essential.
- Competitive salary up to £43,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
