Location: Barnard Castle Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annumWorking hours: 40 hours per week.Your new roleOur client is looking for a motivated and flexible individual to join the team as a Permit Issuer to join the team, supporting the coordination work related to the Safe Systems of Work and ensuring compliance with all statutory rules and regulations.You will be conducting Level 1 inspections to approve permits for contractors to perform their piece of engineering work on site. You will be the focal point for meeting contractor compliance for SSoW on site. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Complete monitoring with the Contractor Partners to ensure the works are being carried out safely and as required by the Permit
  • Ensure all Method Statements, Risk Assessments and any other requests have been reviewed and valid prior to the issue of Work Authorisations or Permits to Work.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and accident/incident investigations.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the Site Construction, Safety and Technical Teams

What you'll need to succeed

  • You will be an experienced Electrical or Mechanical Engineer with an understanding of SSoWs, Risk Assessments and Work Authorisations.
  • Experience working within a commercial environment and working with both internal and contractor teams.
  • IOSH / NEBOSH certificate.
