An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Science Technician to join a thriving secondary school in Barnet. This full-time, permanent position is ideal for a candidate who is passionate about supporting science education and playing a vital role in the smooth operation of a busy science department.

As a Senior Science Technician, you will be responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and organisation of equipment and materials for practical science lessons. You will also supervise and support a small team of technicians, ensuring that the science labs are safe, efficient, and well-resourced to support high-quality teaching and learning.

• Organise and prepare materials and equipment for science practicals across biology, chemistry, and physics.

• Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and safe science lessons.

• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure all health and safety regulations are met.

• Supervise and guide junior science technicians.

• Maintain accurate records of stock levels and order resources as required.

• Support students and staff with technical advice and demonstrations when appropriate.

• Manage waste disposal and chemical storage in line with COSHH regulations.

• Uphold the integrity and safety of the science department as a committed Senior Science Technician.

• Have previous experience working in a school laboratory, ideally in a senior or lead technician capacity.

• Possess a sound understanding of science subjects and practical science requirements.

• Demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills.

• Be familiar with health and safety procedures in a lab setting, including COSHH and risk assessments.

• Be able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

• Hold a relevant science qualification (minimum A-Level or equivalent preferred).

• Be proactive, detail-oriented, and dependable in all aspects of the Senior Science Technician role.

• Hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS registered on the update service.
