Unique School Solutions are supporting a Secondary School in the Barnsley area to appoint an Integrated Resource Unit Manager on a permanent basis to start as soon as possible.

As the IRU Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Working within the support team to promote the learning and welfare of vulnerable students.
  • Managing the Pupil Development Centre team and intervening with students requiring specific short-term support.
  • Contacting parents informing them of individual students' behaviour or exclusions.
  • Liaising with relevant staff and external agencies on actions to be taken.
  • Utilising the MIS and other systems to track attendance, progress and behaviour of targeted students- Supporting students and parents in crisis.
  • Liaise with parents/carers to improve students behaviour, self-esteem, achievement, attainment and aspirations.
  • Manage the supervision of vulnerable pupils with specialist intervention such as sexual health, anger management and analysing their choices regarding behaviour.
  • Following all safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures

Essential requirements for the role:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND and / or challenging behaviours.
  • People management experience would be advantageous
