General Operative

Seeking a self-motivated and flexible person interested in working in the recycling and environmental sustainability industry. This position is based at our Barnsley site, requires working outside and is responsible for ensuring that all metals are processed efficiently to maximise operational profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting machine operators, crane drivers and supervisors in the day to day running of the yard
• Sortation of raw materials in the yard to ensure copper, lead, aluminium and various other materials are separated
• Picking materials from a production belt to ensure contaminants and non-conforming materials are removed
• Complete final quality checks to ensure only prime copper cable is fed through to the granulator
• Bagging up copper granules ready for despatch
• Ensure the working area is kept clean and tidy as possible at all times
• Various other duties may be required once trained

Key Skills/Competencies

• Exceptional organisational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable
• Fork lift and Material Scrap Handler licences would be an advantage
• Knowledge of metals grades an advantage
• Previous experience within a yard, scrap or recycling environment would be ideal but not essential
• Own transport would be a benefit due to location
• Resilient ‘can do’ attitude
• Excellent eye for detail
