This is a key support role where you'll be responsible for registering and validating planning applications, supporting planning officers, and ensuring a smooth customer journey for residents and stakeholders. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous planning support experience looking to contribute to a vital local government function.Key Responsibilities:
  • Register and validate planning applications in line with national and local guidelines
  • Manage incoming correspondence and provide front-line customer support
  • Assist with the processing of consultations, advertisements, and application notifications
  • Support the preparation of planning agendas, reports, and appeals
  • Handle Land Charges and site history searches using GIS and planning software
  • Provide high-quality administrative support across the Development Management team
  • Promote a strong customer service culture, ensuring all advice is accurate and friendly
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Previous experience working in a planning or development management environment
  • Familiarity with Mastergov and GIS systems
  • Strong understanding of planning application processes and validation requirements
  • Excellent IT skills, including MS Office (Excel advantageous)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including English and Maths
