Are you a technically strong Risk Engineer with proven experience in project controls and leadership? We're seeking a highly skilled professional with in-depth knowledge of risk management tools and processes to support a high-profile engineering programme.

Lead Planning, Monitoring & Control Professional - Risk

Contract - 6 Months
Location: Barrow-in-Furness (2 days onsite fortnightly)
Rate: 63.40/hour (Umbrella) or 47/hour (PAYE)
Clearance: UK Eyes Only - Must be eligible for BPSS and SC clearance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead risk-based PM&C activities on a work package or small-scale project.
  • Manage and coach a small team (up to 5 staff), driving performance and delivery.
  • Analyse and assess project risks using ARM (Active Risk Manager) software.
  • Apply both predictive (plan-driven) and adaptive (agile) PM&C methodologies.
  • Produce and interpret detailed project reports and schedules.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure delivery against time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Advise stakeholders using data-led insights to support decision-making.
  • Promote the development and application of best practice in project risk management.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive experience with ARM (Active Risk Manager) software.
  • Strong background in technical risk analysis and mitigation.
  • Previous experience in infrastructure or construction environments.
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring and developing junior staff.
  • High-level proficiency in project reporting, scheduling, and stakeholder management.
  • Sound knowledge of PM&C governance frameworks (e.g. IBRs, LCM).
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent experience), with a professional PM qualification (e.g. APM PMQ).

Desirable:

  • Experience working within highly regulated industries (e.g. defence, nuclear).
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen beyond immediate team scope.
