This is a wonderful opportunity to join my client, an industry-leading, eco-conscious Multidisciplinary Company, renowned for lending their expertise to the transport, infrastructure, and environmental landscapes. They are actively seeking a keen, experienced Hydraulic Modeller, willing to take on a variety of projects alongside an established team of professionals, based near the affluent, family-friendly town of Basingstoke.

Responsibilities for the role of Hydraulic Modeller Developer include:

  • Producing models using software packages such as Flood Modeller Pro and Tuflow
  • Authoring Flood Risk Assessments (FRA), Flood Consequence Assessments, Drainage Strategies, etc.
  • Creating Nutrient Neutrality Assessments, hydrological assessments, natural flood management, re-wilding, and wetland management projects
  • Supporting colleagues, producing technical reports based on data that has been collated collaboratively
  • Liaising closely with clients and other stakeholders, across the public and private sectors

Required skills and experience for the role of Hydraulic Modeller include:

  • A Degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, or a similar, relevant field
  • Experience of working in a hydraulic modelling/flood risk role, within a UK-based consultancy
  • Excellent working knowledge of relevant software systems, including Flood Modeller Pro and Tuflow
  • A keen interest in hydrology, including experience of having worked on hydrological projects for residential and commercial projects
  • Demonstrable understanding of all aspects of flood risk and drainage, including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Experience of working closely with a range of clients and other stakeholders
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Keen interest in data interpretation and manipulation, particularly when applied to report-writing
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence

Desirable skills and experience for the role of Hydraulic Modeller include:

  • Good knowledge of the local area and surrounding region
  • A keen interest in climate change and its effects on water-based environments
