Reed Finance is working with a lovely School just outside of Bath recruiting for a Finance Manager to join their friendly and inclusive team.

The role involves overseeing the finance function of the School, managing the day-to-day finances, preparing management accounts, budgets and reports and line management of Finance Officer and Purchase Ledger.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Line Management: Oversee the Finance Officer/Purchase Ledger Officer.
  • Finance Processes: Ensure accurate recording of income and expenditure in the accounting system. Prepare schedules for the year-end audit, including monthly payroll reconciliations.
  • Routine Accounting Operations: Supervise and undertake tasks such as receiving and processing orders, payroll, checking and processing invoices, transport, trips income, requests for payment, and purchase card.
  • School Lettings Finance: Manage the finance of school lettings, process sales invoices, and monitor aging debtors.
  • Cashless System Management: Oversee the cashless system, parents and staff accounts, and related processes. Monitor student deficits.
  • Financial Reviews: Review the balance sheet monthly and bank account regularly. Prepare monthly management accounts and monitor aging debtors and creditors.
  • Quarterly Reports: Support the Operations Manager in preparing detailed quarterly income and expense reports, including commentary and budget forecasts.
  • Payroll Submission: Submit monthly payroll information to an external provider for processing and perform monthly payroll reconciliation.
  • Budget Preparation: Collaborate with the Operations Manager to prepare the annual budget, input data, predict income, and review previous years' expenditure and staffing information.
  • Ad-Hoc Financial Information: Produce financial management information in a format accessible to non-finance specialists. Provide timely and user-friendly advice and management information to the Head Teacher, Senior Leaders, and other budget holders.
  • Central Finance Liaison: Ensure all transactions adhere to the Finance Policy and meet deadlines and timetables by liaising with the Trust’s Central Finance function.
  • Year-End Procedures: Process year-end accounting procedures efficiently and timely, working closely with the Central Finance Team.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as requested by Financial Controllers or the Finance Director. Duties may vary without changing the general character or level of responsibility of the post.
  • Effective Relationships: Develop and maintain effective working relationships to ensure professional Finance Services are provided.
