Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance engineer - Junior level, to join our dynamic team. This role involves servicing, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of heavy plant and construction equipment directly on-site. You'll play a critical role in keeping our clients' machinery in top working order, minimizing downtime, and ensuring safe and efficient operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Routine Servicing and Maintenance:
    Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and servicing of plant equipment such as conveyors, screws, mixers, control equipment.
  • Breakdown Repairs:
    Respond promptly to on-site machinery breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs under pressure to minimize disruption to construction schedules.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
    Identify and address potential mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues before they become major problems, helping to extend the life of equipment.
  • Record Keeping:
    Maintain accurate service records, including job details, parts used, time spent, and condition reports.
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
    Follow all relevant health and safety regulations and best practices while working on-site, ensuring the safe use and operation of machinery.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise:

Ideally looking for someone that's finished a engineering apprentice, familiar with tools and repairing stuff. Ideally the type of person that spends their spare time working on cars or fixing stuff etc.
Problem-Solving Abilities:
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to resolve faults efficiently.
Communication Skills:
Clear and professional communication, both verbal and written, with team members.
Physical Capability:
Able to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting, crouching, and operating on uneven terrain, and as the job can be a dusty environment (PPE provided)

  • Driving License:
    A full, clean UK driving licence is essential for travel between job sites.

Desirable:

  • Relevant NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualifications in Plant Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Certification for mobile plant or construction machinery (e.g., CSCS card, LOLER, etc.).
