Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice in Bedford in their search for an experienced Bookkeeper. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys client-focused bookkeeping work and is looking for a long-term, stable role within a professional and friendly environment.

The Opportunity:

You'll be joining a close-knit Bookkeeping and VAT team responsible for supporting a diverse client portfolio. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in accurate bookkeeping and VAT work and is not looking to progress into general accounting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Day-to-day bookkeeping for a range of clients across various industries
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns (including multiple VAT schemes)
  • Preparation of management accounts
  • Handling CIS return submissions
  • Supporting clients with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Advising clients on Making Tax Digital
  • General administrative tasks as needed
What We're Looking For:
  • AAT qualified or qualified by experience
  • Solid background in bookkeeping, ideally gained in an accountancy practice
  • Proficient in cloud-based accounting software and Excel
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Someone who enjoys working in a dedicated bookkeeping role and is not seeking progression into wider accountancy work
The Offer:
  • Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 (Full-Time Equivalent)
  • Hours: 22.5 to 37 hours per week - flexible for the right candidate
  • Holidays: 25 days + bank holidays (pro rata)
