What we are looking for:

We are looking to appoint a motivated and inspiring History teacher to deliver a relevant and differentiated curriculum for KS3-KS5 and monitor and support overall progress of students as a teacher and Key Stage Coordinator from September 2025. The History teacher ideal candidate will be able to use creativity to develop rich and exciting collaborative projects that link curriculum areas. As a History Teacher, you will be ambitious and adaptable, with excellent planning and classroom management skills. We are looking for someone who is not only keen to promote their subject around the school but who is also dedicated to improving the lives of young people.

The successful History teacher candidate will be able to teach across the ability and age range, and with experience in applying knowledge of the assessment criteria in History and Politics qualifications across Key Stages 4 and 5. Ideally the candidate would be able to teach Politics to Key Stage 5.

This would suit an ECT or experienced teacher.

About the department:

We are ambitious and forward thinking history department with a large uptake at GCSE and A Level. At A Level we offer History and Politics and many of our Year 13s leave us to carry on their studies in History at top universities including Oxford and Cambridge.

As a department we have an invaluable role to play in the Academy’s vision of creating a culture of tolerance and respect for others. By showing students where we have come from through the events of the past we hope to foster considerate, creative and innovative minds able to analyse and fairly judge people and events. The department is tireless in its striving to widen the experience and knowledge of the students and engages outside speakers (notably: The United States Ambassador to the U.K, Holocaust survivors, local and national politicians, people with first-hand experience of war and occupation from Israel and Palestine) and has a programme of trips and visits to bring the history being studied alive (notably: Mediaeval and Norman castles, WWI Battlefields, Auschwitz).
