Have you worked in prison or probation services and want a fresh start where your skills truly make a difference?
Long Term Futures are supporting a specialist SEMH school near Bottesford that offers more than education - it offers a new beginning. Set in a rural location with animals, outdoor learning, and extensive grounds, the school takes a therapeutic, vocational approach tailored to pupils aged 7-18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Although this specific opportunity is with students aged 13-18, there may be opportunities to work with younger year students also.
Why You're a Great Fit:
Your background in prison, probation, youth offending or secure care has prepared you to manage behaviour, set boundaries, build trust, and remain calm under pressure - all vital in this role. As a Teaching Assistant, you'll provide consistency and support to pupils who often haven't had either.
What Makes This School Unique:
- Rural setting with animals and outdoor learning
- Vocational, flexible curriculum focused on emotional development and life skills
- Strong team ethos and shared commitment to long-term change
In This Role, You Will:
- Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups across classroom and outdoor sessions
- Use trauma-informed, firm-but-fair strategies to encourage regulation and engagement
- Get involved in activities like animal care, gardening, and creative projects
- Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver wraparound support
- Act as a reliable, positive role model who promotes respect and resilience
We're Looking For:
- Experience in justice, care, or secure settings (e.g., prison/probation/youth work)
- Strong behaviour management and emotional resilience
- Compassion, patience, and a sense of humour
- Willingness to work outdoors and take a hands-on approach
What You'll Receive:
- A supportive team and wellbeing-focused culture
- High-quality training in trauma-informed and therapeutic education
- 24/7 support from your dedicated consultant at Long Term Futures
