A prominent UK law firm with a nationally respected tax practice is looking to strengthen its Birmingham-based Corporate Tax offering. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team advising on complex, high-value tax matters across a wide array of transactions and client sectors-including private equity, financial institutions, technology, and renewables. With a growing pipeline of mandates, the firm is now seeking an ambitious Corporate Tax Associate to play a key role in supporting and leading transactional tax work and delivering strategic advice to a portfolio of top-tier clients.

Why this role?

You'll be part of a high-performing group spanning corporate, banking, and tax law, with access to major clients and high-profile deals. The work is broad, including M&A, corporate restructuring, joint ventures, and incentive planning. The team works nationally and internationally, allowing exposure across borders and legal specialisms.

What you'll be doing:
  • Advising on corporate tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and disposals-both UK and cross-border
  • Transaction structuring and tax-efficient deal planning
  • Providing technical insight into employee incentives and share schemes
  • Supporting private equity and investment fund structuring
  • Advising on IPOs, capital raising, and public market transactions
  • Delivering updates, internal training, and market insight to tax and non-tax colleagues

You'll work side-by-side with senior lawyers and tax specialists, with clear opportunities to progress towards Legal Director or Partnership in a team that's committed to internal promotion and long-term development.

What they're looking for:
  • Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience in corporate tax (private practice or Big 4)
  • Strong technical grounding in transactional tax and structuring
  • Experience advising on due diligence, reorganisations, and incentives
  • A confident communicator with a track record of managing client relationships
  • Familiarity with private funds, equity structuring, and investment platforms is advantageous
  • A team player who enjoys mentoring junior colleagues and engaging with business development
