We are thrilled to be working with an established, well known business based in North Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of key accounting processes and play a vital role in ensuring financial integrity across the business. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders - including auditors, tax teams, and business leaders - you'll help drive accuracy, compliance, and improvement in all areas of finance.
This role comes with an annual salary of up to 55,000.00 plus car allowance.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing and posting month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, recharges, and provisions (including restructuring and contingent liabilities).
- Directly managing and developing one finance team member, overseeing day-to-day work and supporting their growth.
- Managing balance sheet reconciliations, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
- Overseeing monthly P&L reporting and supporting the preparation of financial statements in compliance with UK-IFRS.
- Leading on intercompany reconciliations and group reporting submissions.
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate financial data and analysis.
- Conducting monthly reviews with budget holders and business controllers to explain variances and influence decision-making.
- Monitoring changes in accounting standards and helping shape internal processes to ensure full compliance.
- Collaborating with teams across finance, HR, and operations (including offshore finance) to ensure accurate financial information.
- Identifying areas for process improvement, enhancing standard operating procedures, and supporting internal controls development.
- Supporting internal and external audits, responding to queries, and ensuring audit readiness.
Candidate Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:
- Professionally qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
- Strong technical accounting skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working within a financial control or compliance-focused role.
- Comfortable analysing large datasets and identifying key trends.
- A confident communicator who can work cross-functionally and influence non-finance stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset with a drive for continuous improvement and best practice.
