Position Summary
We are recruiting an experienced Senior Hydrologist to join a leading environmental consultancy in Birmingham. This is an opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across flood risk, drainage, and water resources, supporting both private and public sector clients. You'll play a key role in delivering technically robust solutions while mentoring junior staff and contributing to business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Flood Risk Assessments, sustainable drainage strategies (SuDS), and hydrological modelling.
Prepare high-quality technical reports, assessments, and recommendations for planning and development projects.
Support project delivery from feasibility through to detailed design and implementation.
Liaise with clients, local authorities, and statutory bodies, ensuring solutions are practical, compliant, and cost-effective.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, sharing expertise across the team.
Stay current with industry standards, guidance, and regulations.
Requirements
Degree (BSc / BEng) in Hydrogeology, Civil Engineering, or related discipline; postgraduate qualification desirable.
Chartered status or working toward Chartered status (e.g., CIWEM, IES, IEMA, GeolSoc).
Minimum 3-5 years' professional experience in flood risk and drainage projects.
Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrological modelling software (e.g., FEH, WinFAP FEH, Flood Modeller, TuFLOW, HEC-RAS) and AutoCAD.
Excellent communication, project management, and mentoring skills.
Full UK driving licence.
