Pertemps are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a reliable and enthusiastic Machine Setter/Operator to join a well-established manufacturing company. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys variety and wants to be part of a collaborative production team.

As a Machine Setter/Operator, you'll work across multiple departments including saws, press shop, and polishing. You'll be trained to set and operate various machinery including saws, lathes, drills, grinders, and more. The role also includes general shopfloor support, materials handling, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set and operate machinery to produce parts to specification
  • Monitor machine performance and ensure proper lubrication/cooling
  • Support production across saws, press shop, and polishing areas
  • Assist with material handling, stock control, and occasional packing
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Work independently while maintaining strong team collaboration
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and maintain high quality standards
  • Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and promote a safe workplace

About You:
  • Previous experience in a machining or production environment is desirable but not essential
  • Familiarity with tools such as saws and drills is an advantage
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Good attention to detail and strong work ethic
  • Capable of working independently and under pressure
  • Able to read and follow technical instructions or drawings
