We are seeking a skilled CNC Setter Operator to join a reputable organisation in Birmingham. This role requires expertise in the operation and setting of CNC machinery within the industrial and manufacturing sector.

Description
- Setting and operating machine tools efficiently and effectively to an acceptable level of performance.
- 37.5 hours per week, worked on double day shifts rotating between:
Week 1: 05:45-13:30 Mon-Thu + 05:45-12:15 Fri
Week 2: 13:15-21:00 Mon-Thu + 11:45-18:15 Fri
- Machining a variety of components in different batch quantities within required standards.
- Checking the quality of all parts manufactured to ensure they are within tolerance.
- Operating a machine within the manufacturer's recommendations, checking the fluid levels regularly and
- reporting any faults as soon as reasonable to Production and Maintenance Departments.
- Programme editing and proving within operator's capability.
- Being flexible and motivated to utilise the machine tools to their optimum performance.
- Multi-machine manning to enhance machine spindle time on the CNC machines.
- Reading and interpretation of CNC programs, editing of speeds and feeds if required.
- Reading and interpretation of manufacturing and customer drawings.
- Use of measuring equipment e.g. CMM/Vernier/micrometres.
Profile
A successful CNC Setter Operator should have:
- Experience and knowledge of setting and operating CNC Machinery
- Experience in 5 axis machining / Mill turns.
- MAZAK machining experience (preferred but not essential)
- Use of Mazatrol
- Use of FANUC controls
- CMM experience (running proven programs)
- FET POL experience
- Experience of one-off production
- Tooling measurement experience
- Relevant engineering qualifications such as a recognised apprenticeship is desirable.
- Knowledge of the Defence/Nuclear industry and standards and accreditations is desirable.
- Experience and knowledge of working from engineering drawings and works instructions.
- Able to inspect own work and undertake problem solving where required
