A leading designer and manufacturer of intelligent transport technologies is seeking a Design Manager to take a key leadership role within its Engineering Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to oversee the development of temporary traffic signal systems that incorporate remote monitoring, CCTV, and control system technologies. You’ll guide a team of four engineers across all stages of the product lifecycle, from concept to deployment, delivering products that push the boundaries of performance, reliability, and innovation.

?? Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of electro-mechanical products for traffic signal applications.

  • Manage and mentor a team of four Design Engineers, providing technical oversight and leadership.

  • Drive product development from concept through:

    • Feasibility studies

    • Prototyping and iterative design

    • Detailed CAD design and documentation

    • Testing, compliance, and deployment

  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Product teams to ensure delivery of market-ready solutions.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the design process.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, and deliver cost-effective, manufacturable solutions.

? What You Bring:

Essential:

  • Significant experience in electro-mechanical product design.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and design for manufacture (DFM).

  • Proven leadership or mentoring experience in an engineering environment.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, testing, and product validation.

  • Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in transport technology, signalling systems, or related industries.

  • Knowledge of remote management/control system integration.
