The Role:

As a Fire Alarm Proposals Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in the Fire Detection and Electrical Department. You'll be responsible for estimating new installations, system modifications, and additions, ensuring proposals are accurate, competitive, and aligned with client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage enquiries from initial survey through to proposal handover
  • Prepare detailed cost sheets and proposal documentation
  • Monitor supplier and equipment costs
  • Collaborate with project and design teams
  • Attend internal and client meetings
  • Conduct site surveys across the UK (occasional travel abroad may be required)
What We're Looking For:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in commercial/industrial fire detection systems
  • Strong knowledge of BS5839:2025, BS6266:2011, BS7273, BS8519:2020
  • Familiarity with IEE 18th Edition and fire system interfaces
  • Proficient in MS Office and estimating tools
  • Full UK driving licence and DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable:

  • Experience with gas suppression systems and various panel/detection manufacturers
  • Understanding of ATEX/hazardous area regulations
  • Knowledge of construction contracts and project planning software
