Mechanical Fitters required BIW Installation
Location: Midlands
Reports To: BIW Site Manager
Job Purpose:
To assemble, install mechanical systems and fixtures on Body-in-White (BIW) automotive production lines, ensuring alignment with quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Assemble and fit mechanical components on BIW automation lines and welding fixtures.
Interpret and work from mechanical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
Install, align, and secure jigs, fixtures, robots, and equipment in BIW lines.
Conduct machine and tool troubleshooting and basic diagnostics.
Collaborate with engineers and electricians during equipment installation or modification.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities and part replacements.
Support commissioning and try-out activities for new BIW lines or modifications.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on fitting experience.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
Proficiency with tools and measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, torque wrenches, dial gauges).
Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems (preferred).
Good problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
Awareness of safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education: ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related trade.
Experience: 2-5 years in a BIW or automotive manufacturing setup.
Familiarity with robot-assisted BIW lines
Experience in automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier environment is preferred.
Working Conditions:
Factory floor environment.
Requires standing, lifting, and physical activity.
May involve shift work, including weekends or overtime during critical projects.
