Senior Operations Leader - Insurance £70,000

Location: Birmingham

We are working with a well-established, regulated insurance business seeking a dynamic and experienced senior leader to head up their operational teams.

This is a key strategic role with responsibility for driving operational excellence, ensuring full regulatory compliance, and leading high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Insurance Operations Leadership

  • Lead the operational delivery of both life and non-life insurance products
  • Manage policy fulfilment, premium collection, renewals, claims, and customer servicing functions.
  • Work cross-functionally with finance on reconciliations, insurer reporting, and client accounting.
  • Continuously identify areas for operational improvement and implement automation and workflow enhancements.
  • Collaborate with technology teams and third-party platforms to ensure high-quality, resilient service delivery.
  • Develop scalable processes to support continued growth and performance consistency across regions.

Performance Management & Strategic Reporting

  • Define and monitor KPIs to assess service quality, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Deliver insightful reports to senior leadership and the board, highlighting performance trends and improvement areas.
  • Manage supplier relationships and delegated authority agreements with insurer partners.
  • Oversee workforce planning and development, ensuring objectives and progression plans are in place across all teams.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies
  • Lead internal risk assessments and compliance reviews, ensuring audit readiness and operational resilience.
  • Monitor adherence to product governance, distribution, marketing, and data protection policies.
  • Maintain and test business continuity plans, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Senior operational leadership experience within a regulated insurance intermediary or brokerage.
  • Strong understanding of UK and Irish insurance regulatory environments.
  • Proven track record of improving operational processes and driving efficiencies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute at a tactical level when needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the business.
