Paralegal - Land Acquisition (Fixed-Term Contract up to 12 months)

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join a highly regarded legal team with a strong national reputation in the property sector. This fixed-term role (up to 12 months) offers the chance to gain valuable experience in land acquisition and affordable housing work, supporting a Senior Associate within a collaborative and supportive environment.
This role reports directly to the Senior Associate in the Birmingham office, with a dotted line to the Director.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be assisting with a wide range of conveyancing tasks relating to land and affordable housing, including:
- Day-to-day conduct of land acquisition files under solicitor supervision
- Opening new matters and managing client documentation
- Drafting and checking legal documents (deeds, contracts, SDLT, Land Registry forms)
- Liaising with clients, solicitors, and third parties, ensuring consistent communication and updates
- Handling incoming/outgoing calls, emails, and managing case files
- Managing completions and post-completion work, including registration and archiving
- Updating case management systems and preparing reports and statements
- Conducting legal research and supporting the team with administrative duties
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Prior experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant
- Knowledge of land or property law (desirable but not essential)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent communication and client care skills
- Competency in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
- A law degree or equivalent qualification (preferred)
- GCSE English at grade 5/C or above
