Our client is currently sourcing a Rail Project Manager for their Central Birmingham Office on a permanent basis

As Project Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the project within the company in support of the Project Director. The role includes the coordination and facilitation of all processes in such a manner that there is minimal impact and disruption on existing operations throughout the project lifecycle. You will have a strong knowledge and background of commercial management of all aspects of the project to ensure that the project is taken into operation safely, on time and under budget. You will be responsible for resource planning within the project and ensuring the correct level of resource is available to ensure the project meets key milestones

Other responsibilities

  • Agreeing timescales, costs and resources needed to deliver a project
  • Drawing up a detailed plan for how to achieve each stage of a project
  • Selecting and leading a project team
  • Directing a multi-disciplinary Construction and Rail team
  • Communicating with staff at every level, in a calm, personable way
  • Overseeing several sections of the projects at the same time
  • Ensuring that each stage of the project happens on time, on budget and to a high standard
  • Reporting regularly on progress to the Project Director and stakeholders and resolving any issues or delays

Skills/Experience required

  • Knowledge of project delivery in a civils environment
  • Ability to manage project plans, budgets and workforce
  • Managing several projects sections simultaneously with the support of junior project managers
  • Experience of managing multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Experience of delivering within an effective safety culture in a high-risk environment
