Description
- Lead and manage the commercial team to achieve project objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and consultants.
- Take full accountability for the commercial delivery and performance of assigned projects.
- Support, mentor, and develop junior team members.
- Promote collaboration across departments with a focus on best practice and behaviours.
- Assist with pre-start planning, subcontractor procurement, and contract programming.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, variations, and payment processes to minimise disputes and risks.
- Oversee cost control, change management, and maximise project profitability.
- Support material procurement in collaboration with buyers.
- Monitor project cash flow, complete monthly reporting, and ensure timely valuations and payments.
- Maintain detailed and accurate commercial and contractual records.
- Assist with tender estimates and negotiations for future phases and projects.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company standards.
- Foster strong client and consultant relationships to encourage future opportunities.
- Manage risks effectively to protect the company's commercial interests.
Profile
- Strong track record of commercial management on main contracting projects.
- Broad construction knowledge across different build types (e.g., concrete frame, timber frame).
- Excellent numeracy, influencing, and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work professionally under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
- Understanding of cash flow management and cost forecasting.
- Dispute and claims resolution experience is advantageous
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or equivalent).
- Working toward professional membership (e.g., RICS, MCIOB) - desirable
