Supply Heroes are looking for a highly motivated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to work at a well-resourced, supportive and highly respected mainstream Primary Schools in North Birmingham. We are specifically working with schools in the areas of Handsworth, Great Barr and Erdington. These roles are full-time and have temporary to permanent agreements, which means they will become permanent for the right candidates.

You will be making a big impact by supporting children from various backgrounds and needs and work on a 1:1 basis as well as a resource provision. As the demand for special school places continues, the schools are committed to making their mainstream environments, supportive and resourced with staff who are dedicated to helping these children make transformational changes through flexible and holistic learning environments. If you have experience of supporting children with additional needs (EAL, Learning, Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, Global Delay, SEMH, PMLD), in or out the classroom, Supply Heroes would like to hear from you.

There are a range of roles available from providing individual 1:1 support to pupils with Autism, SEND as well as giving additional classroom support where needed. Therefore, somebody who has a passion of working in SEN, good adaptability and strong relationship building will thrive in this role. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a degree in Education
  • Experience of working with pupils with SEN
  • Desirable training; Wellcom, Makaton, Team Teach
  • A depth of knowledge of the primary school curriculum
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A positive and patient approach
