Our client—a well-established and growing plumbing, heating, and construction firm—is seeking a talented ASHP (Air Source Heat Pump) Design Engineer to join their expert team. The Role

In this dynamic, field-based role, you’ll be responsible for the design, specification, and technical development of domestic air source heat pump systems across the Essex area. You'll collaborate with clients, project managers, and installation teams to ensure every project runs smoothly—from survey to final sign-off.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical site surveys to assess suitability for heat pump installations

  • Perform heat loss calculations and system sizing using specialist software

  • Design compliant heat pump systems, including schematics and layout plans

  • Support installation teams with technical advice and troubleshooting

  • Ensure all designs adhere to MCS standards and manufacturer requirements

  • Refine designs based on installer feedback and on-site adjustments

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines technical skill with strong communication and problem-solving abilities. You’ll be comfortable on-site, have a keen eye for detail, and be committed to delivering high-quality, energy-efficient heating solutions.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Heat Pump Systems

  • Experience in heat pump system design and surveying

  • Strong understanding of building fabric, heating systems, and heat loss

  • Familiar with MCS standards and compliance procedures

  • Proficient with heat pump design software (e.g., Heat Punk)

  • Excellent customer interaction skills

  • Full, clean UK driving licence preferred
