We're looking for a dedicated and proactive HLTA to join our team at a vibrant primary school in Blackburn. You'll play a crucial role in supporting teaching and learning, collaborating closely with teachers, and at times, taking responsibility for planning and delivering lessons and covering teacher absences.
Your Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with teachers to plan and prepare high-quality learning activities and resources aligned with the UK National Curriculum.
- Deliver engaging and effective learning activities to individuals, small groups, and occasionally whole classes under teacher direction.
- Provide targeted support to students, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring their full participation and progress.
- Confidently cover planned teacher absences, delivering pre-prepared lessons and managing classroom behaviour effectively.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Support the social, emotional, and behavioural development of students.
- Liaise effectively with teachers, parents/carers, and other professionals.
- Supervise students during lessons, break times, and other school activities.
- Contribute to the positive ethos and values of our school.
- Undertake relevant training and professional development.
- Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection.
- You hold a relevant Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in education and training.
- You have significant experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role within a UK primary school.
- You can plan and deliver engaging learning activities under the guidance of a teacher.
- You possess strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum and assessment methods.
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building positive relationships with students and staff.
- You're confident in managing classroom behaviour effectively.
- You have a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of all students.
- You're highly organised and can manage your workload effectively.
- You have a good understanding of safeguarding principles and practices.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Specific training or qualifications related to supporting students with SEN.
- Experience delivering specific interventions or support programmes.
- First Aid certification.
- A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate on the update service.
