Job Description:
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join a Blackburn primary school starting September 2025. This full-time role involves supporting a small group of Year 3 children who are currently working at an Early Years developmental level, with identified SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and SEN (Special Educational Needs) needs.
The ideal candidate will provide tailored, developmentally appropriate learning experiences and interventions to support both academic and emotional progress. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment for up to 5 pupils.
Working Hours:Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (full-time only)
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with SEMH and SEN, ideally in Key Stage 1 or Early Years settings
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- Ability to adapt teaching approaches to match individual learning profiles
- Compassion, patience, and a proactive approach to classroom support
