The Role

Are you passionate about helping people get back into work and changing their lives? Join them as an Employability Adviser delivering the Restart Scheme helping long-term unemployed adults (6 months or more) find sustainable employment.

In this role, you’ll work one-on-one with participants, providing tailored employment support to break down barriers, build confidence, and equip them with the skills needed to re-enter the job market. Whether it’s personalised career coaching, retraining for a new sector, or supported job searching, you’ll be there every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Empowering individuals with expert career advice, motivation, and confidence-building strategies
  • Delivering intensive one-to-one support, helping participants identify their strengths and transferable skills
  • Creating tailored action plans to help individuals achieve their employment goals
  • Facilitating engaging group sessions to support job search strategies and skill development
  • Keeping up with the local job market and building relationships with employers to create opportunities
  • Managing your own caseload, ensuring each participant receives ongoing support and guidance
  • Meeting and exceeding targets, making a tangible impact on people’s lives

About You 

Whilst they would be delighted to hear from you if you have previous experience of working in the employability sector, or if you have a level 4 Careers Information Advice and Guidance qualification, they are also interested to hear from people who have worked in other sectors where you’ve relished the opportunity to achieve a personal target whilst excelling at providing outstanding customer service, as long as you can demonstrate an understanding of the local labour market and an understanding of what it takes to support unemployed adults to secure sustainable employment.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy (GCSE grade 4 / C or equivalent);
  • An appreciation of the benefits and an ability of using digital tools to support participants;
  • The ability to identify, establish and maintain effective working partnerships for the benefit of customers;
  • The ability to keep accurate and up to date records with a good attention to detail. This includes data entry on electronic systems;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to respond to demanding pressures and to meet deadlines;
  • An ability to work on own initiative and a proactive approach to problem solving.

As their work focuses on supporting individuals in securing employment, it is essential that candidates demonstrate the ability to produce high quality CVs and cover letters, and/or job applications. Your ability to meet this standard will form part of their selection process.
