We are currently looking to recruit a Data Protection Officer within our Data Protection Team in our established office based in Bolton. Our client are well established figure within the insurance and loss adjusting industry, operating across the UK.

Our client are looking for an experience Insurance based Data Protection Officer to lead and oversee data protection compliance across the company. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring ongoing compliance with UK data protection legislation, including UK GDPR.

What this role includes:

  • You will also develop and maintain the companies’ data protection framework, advising on privacy risks, managing data breaches, and promoting a culture of data privacy across all business functions.
  • This role involves close collaboration with key internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and external partners, requiring excellent communication, regulatory expertise, and leadership skills.
  • Your role requires flexibility and adaptability to evolving responsibilities. In line with business needs, you may also be expected to undertake additional or alternative tasks that align with your overall position.

Data Protection Officer Responsibilities:

  • To monitor compliance with data protection laws and internal policies across the Group
  • To inform, advise, and train staff on data protection obligations
  • To conduct regular audits and risk assessments related to data processing activities
  • To advise on and monitor Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • To maintain comprehensive records of all data processing activities
  • To serve as the main point of contact with the supervisory authority (e.g., ICO) and data subjects
  • To respond to data subject access requests and support the handling of data breaches
  • To collaborate with IT, Legal, HR, and other departments to ensure privacy by design
  • To review and advise on contracts, data sharing agreements, and third-party processing
  • To stay current with evolving data privacy laws and advise management accordingly
