Year 1 Teaching Assistant - Special Educational Needs

Location: Bolton
Salary: 425-500 per week
Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3pm
Start Date: ASAP

A welcoming Primary School in Bolton is seeking a caring and committed Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join their Key Stage 1 team. This full-time role involves providing tailored support to children with Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning, build confidence, and make progress in a nurturing environment.

The school is looking for someone calm, patient, and proactive, with a genuine passion for supporting young learners and contributing to a positive classroom atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs in Year 1

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities

  • Adapt tasks and resources to meet individual learning needs

  • Support children's social, emotional, and academic development

  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, happy, and inclusive learning environment

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and parents

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN (Autism, speech & language needs, or SEMH experience desirable)

  • A patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine interest in supporting children's early learning and development

  • Level 2/3 TA qualification preferred but not essential for the right person
