Maintenance Engineer - Perm Days

This role is responsible for leading maintenance activities across manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives, maintain production equipment, and work collaboratively across teams to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and overall equipment effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S)

  • Ensure all manufacturing and maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with company EHS policies and procedures.

  • Monitor and analyze incidents, near misses, and accidents to drive preventative improvements.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with established regulations.

  • Develop and update risk assessments and safe operating procedures for all maintenance tasks.

Quality Assurance

  • Support and monitor quality improvement projects focused on reducing waste, improving efficiency, and resolving internal or customer issues.

  • Ensure all non-conformances are reported and resolved promptly.

  • Implement improvement actions based on continuous improvement reviews and internal audits.

  • Maintain compliance with ISO standards (9001:2015, 14001:2015, 45001:2018).

Operational Delivery

  • Collaborate with relevant departments to optimize resource allocation and production scheduling.

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance plans and respond to equipment issues efficiently.

  • Attend cross-functional meetings to provide updates on maintenance requirements and progress.

Cost Management

  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities related to equipment and maintenance operations.

  • Ensure maintenance activities are executed with a cost-conscious approach.

  • Escalate any deviations from KPIs and propose corrective action plans.

General Responsibilities

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance team.

  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules and service records.

  • Conduct routine site inspections and respond to emergency repairs as needed.

  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and spares to minimize downtime.

  • Apply technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems for troubleshooting.

  • Utilize digital maintenance systems and shop floor data collection (SFDC) tools.

  • Communicate clearly with production teams regarding repair work, timelines, and part orders.

  • Manage and supervise external contractors to ensure safe and efficient work practices.

Qualifications

Technical Competencies

  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and maintenance best practices.

  • Ability to analyze performance data and complete statistical reports.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance scheduling systems.
