Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to join Sefton Council's Risk and Audit Team on a 9 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional advice and guidance on a wide range of health and safety issues

  • Conduct audits, inspections and compliance reviews across Council premises and schools

  • Support investigations into incidents, including RIDDOR reports, and recommend improvements

  • Assist in the development and communication of health and safety policies, training, and procedures

  • Monitor incident trends and contribute to performance reports for key committees

  • Support school safety services under the SLA, including review of overseas trips via the EVOLVE system

  • Liaise with enforcement bodies and manage risk around asbestos, legionella, fire, gas, and electrical safety

About you:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)

  • Certified Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH desirable)

  • Experience in health and safety within large, complex organisations

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle
