Job Title: Roaming PCB Inspector Department: Quality

Reports To:

Quality Assurance Team Lead

Location: Bordon

Summary:

My client has over 50 years' experience in the design and manufacture of switch

mode AC/DC and DC/DC power supplies for use in harsh and demanding military and industrial environments. Other high reliability products include uninterruptible power supplies, battery backup and conditioning as well as PoE power solutions.

They are experts in electronic and mechanical design with a reputation for quality and field-proven reliability.

Main Function of the Job:

The main function of the Roaming Inspector role is to prevent defective product (whether raw materials or finished goods) from getting into stock. This is achieved by carrying out an incoming inspection and/or test on selected incoming product. The type and amount of inspection/lest carried out varies between product and supplier and depends upon a number of factors, e.g. results of supplier audits, supplier performance history and criticality of product.

Job Specification:

The Roaming Inspector is responsible for the inspection and test of selected incoming raw materials and finished goods (from other manufacturing sites or contractors).

100% inspection/test is costly and is used only where there is a high risk that defective product will be received. For lower risk products/suppliers, statistical sampling techniques may be used, whereby a random sample of product from the incoming batch is checked. Where the risk of receiving defective product is very low, product may be passed straight into stock without any goods-in inspection/test.

The Roaming Inspector uses a computer database to lookup inspection/test instructions for each incoming product/material (using NCL Part Number).

Methods of inspection/test are varied and involve the use of a wide range of inspection, measuring and test equipment. Work Instructions have been produced to support some inspection/test methods. A full list of related work instructions and other supporting documentation is provided.

Results of inspections/test must be recorded within the database. For some products/materials, additional records may be required, e.g. Inspection checklist for PCBs. The Roaming Inspector must not deviate from the instructions specified within the database. Where such authorisation is given, the Roaming Inspector must ensure that details of the deviation are recorded within the inspection/test results database.

Manual Handling

A wide range of goods in varying size boxes/containers and with a wide range of weights will be handled by the team. Special care must be taken at when handling incoming goods, especially when lifting of moving large and/or heavy items. If the Roaming Inspector is not entirely comfortable with handling a load, assistance must be sought.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pension: Group Stakeholder Pension Scheme. Companys contribution 5% of basic salary, employee contribution a minimum of 4% of basic salary
